Hiring is never an easy process. Screening through hundreds of resumes, finding the right talent is quite a tiresome task that involves time, energy, and resources that not every company is blessed with. However, through AI and technology it’s quite the possibility, and Vervoe does fit in that category.
Vervoe is AI-based recruitment software where it tests potential candidates on their skills and knowledge to see how they would do the job before they get the job. Gone are the days where you hire somebody based on an impressive resume; instead, see which applicant can do the job based on merit scores. It’s quite an innovative forefront and to learn more about Vervoe, Venture Mirror had a unique opportunity to learn more about the company by having a small interview with Omer Molad, Co-founder and CEO of Vervoe.
What is the startup / product / venture about? Give us a brief description of it.
Vervoe’s mission is to make hiring based on merit, not background. Vervoe is an AI-powered skill testing platform. Vervoe helps companies make hiring decisions with confidence by giving job applicants an opportunity to prove their skills and automatically ranking them based on how well they performed.
How many co-founders are there? Please introduce them and their backgrounds.
Vervoe was founded by David Weinberg and Omer Molad. David has a tech background but also once ran a bakery. Omer has a banking background, and also served in the military and worked with the Red Cross.
How did you come up with the idea? What motivated you to do this?
We were inspired by the film industry that uses auditions to cast talent. We wanted to use technology to make it possible for companies to audition people for every role.
Who is your target market? Why do you think your product will appeal to them?
Vervoe has customers of all sizes, from startups to Fortune 500 companies. Our customers are companies that believe in hiring based on merit, not background.
Who are your competitors? How are you different from them?
We often compete against video interviewing tools that take traditional interviews online, or against psychometric assessment providers that use off the shelf personality assessments. Neither of those methods indicate whether someone can do the job and therefore aren’t highly predictive of job performance.
The other thing we do that’s special is give every candidate an opportunity to put their best foot forward without being eliminated unfairly. We can do this because we have the ability to automatically rank candidates at scale. So it doesn’t matter how many people apply, they all get a chance and recruiters don’t have to spend more time screening them.
What are the future plans with the product/startup? Any new features you are planning on?
We just launched new functionality called “Select”, which you can read about here – https://vervoe.com/select/.
Until now, Vervoe helped companies automatically screen job applicants based on their skills and get to a shortlist of people who can do the job.
Now we’ve added another dimension. We help companies go from the shortlist to the final decision about who to hire. Not only can they see candidates ranked against each other – based on performance – but now they can also see how the top candidates scored for each skill, re-rank them based on one or more skills, and compare them side by side. This helps hiring managers dig deeper into the top performers so you can making a hiring decision with confidence.
