What is the startup / product / venture about? Give us a brief description of it.
Omnicourse is a subscription-based capsule-sized audio course platform for mobile where lecturers can get paid by the minutes listened. Omnicourse platform provides learning enthusiasts with audio courses and gives creators the opportunity to earn cash by the minutes listened. It’s like the Spotify of eLearning. From audiobooks and podcasts to audio-social, audio-only platforms are booming. We’re combining this with eLearning because we think there is an area to discover and grow.
How many co-founders are there? Please introduce them and their backgrounds.
Co-Founder & CXO Ali Kemal Serbet Received his degree in Political Science and International Relations. Doing War Studies MA in Turkish National Defense University.
Co-Founder & CTO M. Furkan Yilmaz graduated from the Department of Sociology in Marmara University. Found & ran digital ventures – from e-commerce to social media.
How did you come up with the idea? What motivated you to do this?
Before 2020, online was just an interesting alternative to traditional means of shopping and education.
The pandemic had a fundamental influence on this status quo. In 2020, all online solutions about everything from market shopping to clothing to education became an inevitable necessity. Even the most reluctant audiences learned how to find online courses and started to invest in them. Usage of online payments exploded worldwide for all age groups.
Right now, people do not discuss the necessity of online courses anymore.
They discuss which app to buy courses from.
Who is your target market? Why do you think your product will appeal to them?
Audiobook and podcast listeners are our main prospects because these industries are growing like clockwork for 8-9 years with double-digits. We are combining audio-only platforms with eLearning to discover and market-make.
Who are your competitors? How are you different from them?
Listenable and Knowable are the main suspects. Listenable consists of audio courses, Knowable has 5-to-15-minute learning content in them. We took the best of those worlds and put them together. Omnicourse has audio courses, as well as Learnbites, 5-to-15-minute learning contents in it.
What are the future plans with the product/startup? Any new features you are planning on?
We’re aiming to be one of the most used eLearning platforms in the world in the next 4-5 years.
