There must have been so many occasions while growing up that we didn’t have the opportunity or freedom to ask certain questions. Even as adults we encounter situations wherein questions go unasked for one reason or the other. Whether you’re battling to understand cultural differences or just trying to figure something out, it would help a great deal if your questions were asked and answered by those close to you.
Berry’s is a mobile app that helps you ask questions anonymously to a group of selected people. This gives everybody a chance to ask questions on sensitive but relevant issues and the anonymity gives both the questioner and responder a sense of freedom to be honest and truthful. In conversation with Berry’s developer Nick Zamanov, we learn more about this app and what led to its creation.
What is the startup/product about? Give us a brief description of it.
Berry’s is a mobile app that lets users anonymously ask those awkward, embarrassing or not publicly acceptable questions to their selected friends, peers and family members. We help users to get the most honest answers to all their questions, as responders know their answer would be both anonymous and helpful to one of their friends.
How many co-founders are there? Please introduce them and their backgrounds. If there are multiple co-founders, please mention how did you meet one another
My name is Nick Zamanov and I’m the founder and CEO of Berry’s. I have an engineering background.
How did you come up with the idea? What motivated you to do this?
I came up with this idea because of my own problem and thought this kind of product would have been really helpful for me. I am an introverted immigrant, so I’ve always had a lot of things to ask, but ended up not asking them for a lot of different reasons: because of cultural barriers; some questions felt not so smart to ask and some of them stayed unasked for privacy reasons.
Who is your target market? Why do you think your product will appeal to them?
The product is first of all for introverts who tend to keep their privacy and don’t enjoy talking too much to other people. And secondly it is for teenagers who have a lot of questions to ask, but end up not asking them for so many reasons.
What are the future plans with the product/startup? Any new features you are planning on?
Our goal is to help people to get honest answers for any questions they have. Yes, a lot of cool features are coming soon to make lives of our users at least a little bit easier.
