It’s evident that social media has encapsulated our lives. There are different platforms where one can share pictures, interact with friends through video calls, find new friends and so much more. But what if all of this was incorporated into one platform? Its where Besedky comes to the picture.
A map-based video meeting platform that lets one meet new friends, explore places, discover new things, and more all across the globe. Meeting newer people through Besedky is simple and straightforward. To shed more light on the product, Venture Mirror had the opportunity to have a small discussion with Boris Koveshnikov, CEO, founder, full-stack dev of Besedky.
What is the startup/product about? Give us a brief description of it.
Besedky is a map-based video-meeting platform. It lets people from all over the world interested in communication, traveling, languages easily create thematic video-meeting rooms on a map and connect to the whole world. Meet new friends, invite them to the video-discussion, see new places, and feel what is your own place in the world. You can chat about art in Florence or have a virtual party with friends in New York.
How many co-founders are there? Please introduce them and their backgrounds.

We worked on another startup – Otmetky – digital participation design service
How did you come up with the idea? What motivated you to do this?
I am currently working on another startup on the subject of urban design. We have launched Otmetky – a digital participation tool, which is all about citizens taking part in discussions of an urban environment – marking their ideas on a map – this is exactly the feeling of yourself in the city – your place, your opinion, your communication with others (citizens, stakeholders, architects). Communication with citizens led us to an idea of a local festival – but then – Boooom! the COVID happens delaying everything. And that’s when we decided to make Festyline – online festivals (in 3D or on a map). But working on Festyline we came up to a more simple and logical idea – that it would be cool to virtually walk on the map and at the same time communicate on any topics with those who live in this place or want to go somewhere. That’s how Besedky project was born.
Who is your target market? Why do you think your product will appeal to them?
Our first priority is 25-45-year-old people interested in traveling, languages, communication. In our service, they can connect to each other, even though on a distance. They can virtually meet locals, practice languages, discuss local food and tradition. Meet new friends and plan future offline tours.
But Besedky is so much more than this – it gives an opportunity to online festivals, lectures, masterclasses, partying, playing games, etc.
Who are your competitors? How are you different from them?
Competitors
1)ZOOM, Whereby, Skype – video-conferencing tools
2)Meetup – community
3)Facebook, Instagram – social networks
4)Connect Club, Staythehome bar, Corona&Chill – virtual activities
Besedky has all this inside – it combines video conferencing tools with social networks and communities and virtual activities. Besedky is the only web App in which you can see all the groups and communities in one space. Also, Besedky is right now absolutely free and works on all devices.
What are the future plans with the product/startup? Any new features you are planning on?
We’re working on a second version which will come out in a few weeks and will make Besedky a video-meeting social network
