Stackby brings together flexibility of spreadsheets, power of databases and built-in integrations with your favorite business apps.

Software’s have stepped up their game by offering simple and straightforward tools to increase productivity and lessen the workload dramatically. However, there are plenty of software’s ranging used for different purposes, and using every one of them becomes an exciting hassle for sure. It’s where stacking all these software’s and their API’s under one platform can prove helpful, and Stackby offers the same.

Stackby is a product that offers users the power to develop their software to unlock their complete potential. It’s the use of spreadsheets, connections, and power databases through APIs that makes it feasible and helps manage and automate your work life in the best possible scenario. It works in quite an interesting way where you get real-time updates of every service stacked under one another in a spreadsheet format that can be viewed and edited through the application itself. Speaking with Rachit Khator, Founder and CEO of Stackby, Venture Mirror briefly discussed the company and its operations, where the entire interview is provided below.

What is the startup / product / venture about? Give us a brief description of it.

Stackby helps teams build their own tools and unlock the full potential of creating software.

With the ease of use of spreadsheets, power of databases and connections to best services (APIs), Stackby is an all-in-one platform that allows you to not only plan and manage but also automate your life and work.

It’s real-time, collaborative and has the ability to connect columns to third party services to pull information automatically in tables and refresh in real-time. With traditional software dictating how you should work, we believe in the contrary – you should dictate how software should work. Our mission is to empower the billion spreadsheet users to build powerful software tools for their teams.

Teams across functions like marketing, sales, HR, product management, project management, advertising & creatives etc. can use it to manage their processes, collaborate in real-time from wherever they are and keep track of their data and work in a single place. Anyone can choose from over 150+ templates in the template gallery and get started in minutes.

More than 6000 companies around the world use Stackby to plan, manage and automate their work, their way.

How did you come up with the idea? What motivated you to do this?

I was working at a Fortune 500 company in the US, as part of their venture capital group. I was constantly embroiled with spreadsheets to manage our workflows and it became cumbersome in our team.

As I was looking for tools, I realized that there are either vertical tools that solve a specific problem or there’s project management and CRM software. And neither of which gives you much ability to customize for your needs.

After speaking with over 100 professionals in my network, one major pain-point emerged: most people relied on spreadsheets, given their ease of use, and they struggled to organize their data in a single place.

So I did a quick pivot from building a deal-management software for investment professionals to building an easy-to-use platform for anyone to build their own software.

With that ambitious idea and some early validation on the side, I quit my corporate job in the US in 2018 and moved back to India to start Stackby.

Who are your competitors? How are you different from them?

Along with being a powerful yet easy to use spreadsheet-database platform, what differentiates us from our competitors is the fact that we’re API first – the ability to connect columns to popular third party services to pull information directly in your tables and refresh/automate cells to bring real-time information.
