The right type of education can set individuals apart. Learning smarter is the path to a brighter future, and the one way that’s possible is by using services offered by the right Ed-tech platform. While there are plenty out there, there is one company offering a simple yet robust structure in solving queries and doubts in the best possible scenario. The company is none other than Boole.
Boole is a company that offers real-time problem-solving abilities. It’s an application that lets users enter the problem faced in any question related to engineering, mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, or any other education stream and connects you to that person. Once connected, you can ask the solution and even interact with the person to know more about finding the solution and understanding the problem from a better tonality. It’s quick, fast and responsive. Speaking with Boole, Venture Mirror did have an interesting interview which is provided below.
There are questions that we are unable to solve online, either because we can’t find them, or because we cannot understand the given answer. The alternative is to go to an expert, but this is expensive and time consuming. The “problem” are all the unanswered questions; while they have some value, they are not worth the effort to go to an expert.
Boole is a platform that efficiently matches questions with individuals that have the right competency; it allows for a quick and easy way of communication as well as a simple peer-to-peer payment mechanism to monetize short interactions.
Boole was started by Ignacio and I. We graduated together from the computer science department from EFPL (Switzerland). I did my master degree in Communication systems, Ignacio did his in data science so we both have a strong background in software engineering and machine learning. I also have some experience in UI design and Ignacio in business thanks to his economics education in Japan and China.
During the pandemic we saw some of our friends and relatives struggling to find jobs, all of them have useful knowledge in law, science, … It occurred to us that surely somewhere, someone could benefit from their skills and so what was lacking was a marketplace where they could meet. Even before the pandemic, there were a lot of unemployed people who were often either too inexperienced or too old, and who for these reasons might struggle more in the job hunt. This motivated us to think about how to build such a marketplace which eventually led to the conception of boole.
At the beginning, our target market is education and more specifically students and tutors. Tutoring is a 6 billion dollar industry that has the particularity to be relatively standardized around the globe. In a second step we plan to target health or psychological support by creating dedicated spaces. It is a more challenging market but it also has the benefit to concern any of us.
The appeal of boole is that you are able to get 1-1 dedicated interactions for your questions. Picture a student the night before an exam, unable to get an answer for his questions: with boole he would have a fighting chance!
Our main competitors are Q&A sites such as Quora or Stack Overflow. The main differences are two fold: First, our platform leads to private 1-1 interactions where only the satisfaction of the asker matters (the answer is not made public). Secondly, we allow adding financial bounties to questions to enable users to create incentives for better/faster answers.
The long term goal of boole is to establish ourselves as the marketplace for questions. We plan to add features that make the interactions smoother as the ability to have a shared live canvas to draw on among others.
